The LENS program can only notify you of events on New York State driver records. For information from other States’ records, you will need to contact the other States. There are a few circumstances where LENS can notify you of an event on a record belonging to a driver licensed by another State.
The driver was convicted of a violation within New York State
When a driver visiting NYS accrues a conviction, we will search for an existing NYS record and add the conviction to it. If none exists, we will create a new record for the driver to denote the conviction. The new records will include the notiation “NO NY LICENSE.”
The driver’s New York State driving privilege has been suspended
When a driver visiting NYS fails to answer a summons from a court in NYS, the court may direct us to suspend the driving privilege. We will search for an existing NYS record and suspend it. If none exists, we will create a new record for the driver to denote the suspension. The new record will include the notiation “NO NY LICENSE”. We will also notify the driver’s home State of the suspension.
