Deputy Commissioner for Strategy & Innovation
Blaise DiBernardo (Hover) was appointed as Deputy Commissioner for Strategy & Innovation in October 2020. In this new role, Ms. DiBernardo will lead the development and implementation of DMV’s strategic vision to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness with an emphasis on improved customer service. Through examining new technologies, business process improvements, industry best practices, innovative solutions, and transformative initiatives she is responsible for helping DMV Build Back Better.
Ms. DiBernardo is also tasked with realigning and reimagining the Agency’s programs, facilities and services to achieve DMV’s mission of issuing secure identity documents, delivering essential motor vehicle and driver related services, and administering motor vehicle laws to promote safety and protect consumers.
Prior to joining DMV, Ms. DiBernardo served as the Deputy General Counsel and Special Counsel for Ethics, Risk & Compliance at the New York State Thruway Authority. Ms. DiBernardo also served in the Executive Chamber as the Chief Attorney for FOIL and Research. Prior to joining state government, Ms. DiBernardo worked as an Associate Counsel for a large trade organization and in a private firm specializing in government affairs and government relations. Ms. DiBernardo earned her J.D. from Albany Law School and a B.A. from the University of Rochester.
