Joseph Crisafulli

Deputy Commissioner of Operations

Deputy Commissioner Joseph Crisafulli was appointed to the position in October 2021. He has served DMV customers for more than 30 years.

He began in 1986 as an Associate Accountant. He then moved on to Director of Telephone Customer Services before rising through the ranks in Operations.  He held several Director positions before serving as the long-time Director of Operations and then Acting Deputy Commissioner of Operations.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Mr. Crisafulli was integral in re-imaging how the DMV would safely serve our customers.  He worked tirelessly to revamp office layouts, staffing shifts, and reservations for customers. He then turned his focus to alternate service channels where he continues to lead teams in the development of digital intake transactions.

Mr. Crisafulli holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University at Albany and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Siena College. He served as President of the Board of Directors for Mohawk Opportunities, Inc., stepping down after 9 years of service, and is a former vice president of the Scotia-Glenville School Board.
