ACCESS TO DMV RECORDS

NYS DMV allows authorized insurance companies and their authorized servicing agents access to DMV applications in order to assist their clients with insurance related issues.

  • IIE INQUIRY EXTERNAL (IIES) allows users to verify if letters, suspension or revocation notices, or restorations have been sent to the registrant. It would also show if a record has an open or closed case.

  • INSURANCE TRANSACTION LOOK UP (EDITS) allows authorized users to view data and the disposition of an electronic insurance transaction sent by an insurer or its servicing agent. Liaisons with each company should request a list of users that have access to our systems on a yearly basis. They may add/remove User ID’s as needed. Servicing agents that report notices on behalf of an insurance company are authorized to gain access to EDITS and IIE Inquiry External. The insurance company must grant permission to that servicing agent using this form. Servicing agents may therefore have access to transactions from multiple insurance companies. Permission must be granted and renewed from the insurance company’s liaison each year to maintain access to transactional data and insurance records.

  • WEB INTERFACE REPORT DOWNLOAD (WIRD) allows authorized insurance companies to access the IIES Insurer EDI Transaction Filing Reports through the DMV Application Report link. Filing, Matched Transactions and Summary Reports are viewable for each insurance company. One User ID is assigned to each authorized insurance company. The User ID can be shared within the company.

The request for an account must come from the designated administrative contact for the insurance company.
