DMV considers the following types of businesses to be Junk and Salvage businesses:

  • vehicle dismantlers
  • salvage pools
  • itinerant vehicle collectors
  • mobile car crushers
  • scrap processors
  • scrap collectors
  • drive-in appraisers
  • repair shops that dispose of vehicle scrap

Apply

To apply to become a junk and salvage business, mail 

to the Bureau of Consumer and Facility Services - Application Unit at the address below.

If DMV rejects your application, you will receive a refund 8 to 12 weeks after the Department of Audit and Control receives your refund voucher.
