Available to AAA members only
Many vehicle registration, driver license and non-driver ID services, including REAL ID upgrades, are now available for valid AAA members at some New York AAA offices. Learn more about AAA locations where license services can be completed.
Other AAA branches may offer limited DMV services, such as vision testing for license renewals. Search for your local AAA office to see the services offered.
Instructions
1. Complete forms before you visit a AAA
If possible, fill out the required forms before you arrive. You can find the forms you need on the DMV website by searching the transaction you want to complete. If you cannot find what you need, the AAA branch where you complete your DMV transaction will have them.
2. Have proof of identity
You must come in person and provide appropriate proof of identity. You can reference the ID-44: How to Apply for A New York: Learner Permit, Driver License, Non-Driver ID Card (PDF) for license and non-driver ID transactions, and you can reference the ID-82: Proofs of Identity for Registration and Title (PDF) for registration and title transactions.
3. Determine if you need a reservation
You must make a reservation to visit a AAA location in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Farmingdale, East Meadow, Garden City, Yonkers, Nanuet, Smithtown, and Yorktown Heights. Reservations are not needed for vision testing
