Mailing Status

We mail your license, learner permit, or non-driver ID to the address we have our records. Allow 3 weeks to receive the document.

You can check the mailing status of your photo document online by entering the Transaction ID, which is on your Interim License, Permit, or Non-Driver ID, or the confirmation number from an online transaction confirmation email, along with the date you completed your transaction.  

If your document is undeliverable or has been lost in transit you can get a new document sent to you by confirming your address on file with DMV.

Sample New York State Interim (Temporary) Document

The Transaction Date (Issue Time) and the Transaction ID are highlighted on the sample Interim document. This information is necessary to check the mailing status of your New York State License, Permit, or Non-Driver ID.

The sample document represents the temporary document that a customer receives before their official License, Permit, or Non-Driver ID is mailed. The temporary document includes the New York State Seal, a barcode, the date and time the Transaction was completed, the Transaction ID, Credential Information, and Applicable Fees.
