$25 from Registration and Renewal Fees Go Directly to Fund

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles today reminded New Yorkers of the Drive for the Cure custom license plate supporting the Breast Cancer Research and Education Fund and the Testicular and Prostate Research and Education Fund.

“Whether it is you or a loved one, unfortunately most of us have been impacted by cancer,” said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. “The Drive for the Cure custom plate is just one way we can help support continued cancer research and education here in New York State.”

The DMV has more than 200 custom license plates representing a vast array of professions, interests and causes including the military and veteran’s plates, counties and regions of New York State, sports teams and more. Fees from some special cause plates support charities, such as the World Trade Center Memorial Scholarship Fund, Cure Childhood Cancer Research Fund, the Environmental Protection Fund and the Life Pass It on Trust Fund. Find information about and images of all of DMV’s custom license plates on the DMV website.

Custom plates may be ordered on the DMV website, by mail, or by calling the Custom Plates office at (518) 402-4838. They are also available with the International Symbol of Access (ISA) for any registrant who qualifies. Any qualifying applicant who wants a plate with the ISA on it must contact the Custom Plates office before submitting their application.
