DMV Booth will Also Offer Other Transactions for Customers at the 125th annual Auto Show
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will once again bring its mobile office to the annual New York International Auto Show, which runs from April 18 through 27 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. DMV staff will be processing REAL ID and Enhanced ID upgrades.
This year marks the 125th anniversary of the world’s premiere auto show.
The DMV mobile location is at booth number NC 1, Second Level, North Concourse.
“We are once again pleased to offer our customers an opportunity to do their DMV transactions at the Auto Show,” said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. “While you are enjoying the show, you can also take a moment to apply for a REAL ID so you’re able to fly domestically going forward.”
The show comes just before the May 7 deadline by which the federal government will require passengers on domestic flights to have a REAL ID-compliant identification. A standard license, permit or non-driver ID will no longer be accepted, so New Yorkers are urged to get a REAL ID-compliant document, either a REAL ID or an Enhanced license or ID. Passports will also be accepted.
As with any visit to a DMV to get a REAL ID, customers are strongly encouraged to go to the DMV website in advance to use the document guide to determine what proof they need to bring with them. The guide allows customers to print a checklist to be certain they have all the required proof.
DMV staff will not be able to perform cash transactions but can take checks, debit payment, credit cards, Google Wallet and Samsung or Apple Pay.
Information on NY HELPS will also be available at the Auto Show regarding opportunities available for New Yorkers seeking employment.
The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) will be at the DMV booth as well, providing information on staying safe on the roads as drivers, passengers and as pedestrians.
