Media Advisory: Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) Raises Awareness of Distracted Driving Dangers with Young Drivers Through Emilee’s Challenge
Oswego, NY - The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) in partnership with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the SUNY Oswego University Police Department will host students from SUNY Oswego, Sandy Creek Central School and Mexico Academy & Central School District to participate in Emilee’s Challenge.
“Emilee’s Challenge” is an educational program designed to honor Emilee Rawleigh, who died at the age of 21 in a car crash in Steuben County. Wreckage from the crash will be on display inside a trailer, which also uses multiple stimuli from the crash scene to educate young drivers on the fatal consequences associated with distracted, impaired or intoxicated driving.
