New York DMV Returns To The Great New York State Fair

Staff will be available to help with online transactions

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced the agency will once again return to the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse from Wednesday, August 20 through Monday, September 1.

Customers will be able to visit DMV’s mobile office in the Center of Progress Building on the New York State Fairgrounds.

Fairgoers can learn about the New York State Fair license plate and the more than 200 other custom plates available, take an eye test, and get assistance with more than 70 DMV online transactions including the learner permit test. In addition, DMV staff will be available to assist customers with scheduling an office reservation or road test.

“There is no better place to be at this time of year than the Great New York State Fair,” said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. “We are proud once again to participate and to be able to bring the DMV right to our customers so that they can get the information, advice and assistance they need.”

Customers can use DMV’s REAL ID document guide that explains exactly what documents they will need to do the transaction and creates an individualized checklist of all the documents they will need to bring with them.

New Yorkers can also get their application for a REAL ID or Enhanced License digitally pre-screened to determine whether they have all the required paperwork and verification documents they need to successfully complete their transaction. This option is available at select offices across the state, including the DMV’s Syracuse and North Syracuse locations.

After pre-screening, customers will receive an email with instructions to fix any errors and next steps. Once an application is approved, DMV will alert the customer to schedule their in-person visit at a participating office location on a date and time that is convenient for them.
