Register to Become an Organ, Eye and Tissue Donor

There is a tremendous need for organ donors in New York State.

  • Nearly 8,200 New Yorkers are waiting for an organ transplant. In the United States, 17 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant.
  • Only 46% of New Yorkers aged 18 and over have enrolled in the NYS Donate Life Registry, compared to the national average of 63%.
  • Just one organ donor can save up to eight lives and improve the lives of up to 75 people.

DMV has a PDF document that explains What You Should Know About Becoming an Organ, Eye and Tissue Donor (MV-OD). Learn more at DonateLife.ny.gov.
