Out-of-State Options for IDP Entry
About
While most IDP participants are NY State licensed drivers wishing to enroll in NY State IDP programs, New York State provides a number of alternatives depending on your circumstances. Please review the following chart for a situation that will meet your needs.

---|---|---|---|
NY or Out-of-State | NY | Out-of-state | A Request for Approval of Out-of-State Impaired Driver Program (PDF) (DS-1) must be completed by a qualifying out-of-state provider. Please note: Out-of-state motorists wishing to obtain conditional driving privileges in NY State must visit a NY State or county motor vehicle office and provide a driving record (abstract) from the motorist's home state. The abstract must have been issued within the previous 30 days and reflect that your license is valid. |
