NYS DMV ANNOUNCES NEW WHITE PLAINS OFFICE COMING SOON

New Office Expected to Open in Fall 2022

Existing Location in White Plains Mall to Permanently Close on March 31

Temporary Location Opening in Tarrytown

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today announced it is opening a new modern office in White Plains.  The new office will be located at 1 Maple Ave, White Plains, NY and is expected to open to customers in early Fall of this year. The existing DMV office located within White Plains Mall will be permanently closed at end of business tomorrow, March 31.

Until the new office is open, customers are encouraged to visit our website at DMV.NY.GOV to complete their transaction online or to schedule a reservation at a nearby location.  To make the transition as easy on the community as possible, the DMV will open a short term, temporary office in Tarrytown just a short drive from White Plains, while the new location is being constructed. This temporary office will be open for 60 days beginning on April 4.  The DMV will also increase its capacity to serve customers at the nearby Yonkers office and will explore additional temporary locations as needed.

“We are very excited to find a new home in White Plains as we work to reimagine the way we serve New Yorkers and strive to transform our customer service,” said DMV Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. “Our new office will be located just a few short miles from our former home in the White Plains Mall and it will allow us to offer our customers the best possible experience.  We look forward to the grand opening of this new location in early fall.”

Providing exceptional customer service in both its physical offices and online is a top priority of the DMV and the focus of an ongoing transformation effort. The DMV’s new vision is to shatter perceptions of the of DMV by providing simplified, effective, and responsive services. The DMV is taking a customer-first approach to its transformation effort by expanding online services, implementing enhanced customer service initiatives in its offices, streamlining transactions, and exploring new ways for customers to communicate with the agency.

The DMV has also launched a transparency portal to inform New Yorkers about important deadlines and changes that impact them, connect them to data and other valuable information, and allow customers to provide feedback about new projects the DMV is considering.
