MEDIA ADVISORY: GOVERNOR’S TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMITTEE WARNS OF SPIKE IN IMPAIRED DRIVING CRASHES AND ANNOUNCES ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN

DIX HILLS, NY - The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC)  will highlight the dangers of impaired driving in advance of the statewide STOP-DWI "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. GTSC, law enforcement, and Suffolk County Police Officer Timothy Thrane will urge responsible driving in the wake of a recent spike of impaired driving crashes. Officer Thrane suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by an impaired driver in a chain reaction crash while on duty.
