DMV ENCOURAGES NEW YORKERS TO SHOW PRIDE IN THE STATE’S NFL TEAMS WITH FAN LICENSE PLATES
Football fans can display passion for Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and New York Jets by ordering custom plates

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today encouraged New Yorkers to show their pride in New York State’s National Football League (NFL) teams by ordering their favorite team license plates. The custom plates, which allow fans to display their passion for the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and New York Jets on their vehicles, are available to order on DMV’s website.

“All three of New York’s NFL teams kicked off their seasons Sunday, so it’s a great time for fans to order plates and show their appreciation for their favorite teams not just during football season, but all year long,” said DMV Executive Deputy Commissioner Terri Egan. “I encourage New Yorkers to put their pride on display, and check out the dozens of plate designs DMV has available for nearly every interest, organization, and cause.”

Four NFL-related custom plates are available for purchase: Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, Giants Super Bowl Champs 2012, and New York Jets. The initial charge for these custom plates is $60, plus an annual renewal fee of $31.25. These fees are in addition to vehicle registration renewal fees. Your favorite NFL team plate may be personalized for an additional cost. Motorists are billed for the plates every two years when they renew their registrations. New York’s NFL team plates are available for both passenger and commercial vehicles.

The fastest and easiest way to order NFL plates is online at dmv.ny.gov. Motorists must have a valid New York State registration that does not expire within 60 days, a valid email address, an up-to-date name and address on file with DMV, and a credit or debit card accepted by DMV. Customers may also order their custom plates by mail, at their local DMV office, or by calling the DMV Custom Plate Unit at (518) 402-4838.

DMV offers more than 220 different designs for a variety of custom plates. Most recently, DMV introduced its “I LOVE NY” State Fair custom license plate, the design of which first appeared at the DMV exhibit at Syracuse Nationals this past July. The State Fair plate first became available to order in August at the Great New York State Fair.
