MEDIA ADVISORY: GTSC, DMV LAUNCH CAMPAIGN TO TARGET DISTRACTED DRIVING; DOT AND THRUWAY AUTHORITY JOIN TO SUPPORT WORK ZONE SAFETY
Saratoga Springs, NY - The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will launch a Public Service Campaign to address distracted driving in New York State. The campaign will include PSA videos, billboards and radio advertisements.
Among the speakers will be Karen Torres, whose father, Patrick Mapleson, a NYS Department of Transportation highway maintenance worker, was struck and killed by a distracted driver.
New York State Department of Transportation and Thruway Authority officials will discuss the importance of safe driving through work zones. The event is being held at the Trucking Association of New York’s (TANY) Truck Safety and Education Symposium.
