Put Registration in Someone Else's Name

If you want to put a registration into a different person's name, you must first surrender your current plates. Then, the new registrant must register the vehicle separately and get new plates.

With this new registration, if the registrant and owner are different, the new registrant must present the vehicle's title and a completed MV-82, where the owner has filled out Section 3, to the DMV.

Change Other Information

Correct an Error on Registration or Title

If we made an error on your document, use the Ask DMV a Question service to request a correction. We may be able to correct it without you coming to a DMV office.  There is no fee for a correction.
